Guided river trips in Arctic Alaska
Remote Waters offers small-group guided float trips on rivers in Alaska’s Brooks Range. In early summer, we explore the mountains, wildlife, and vast landscapes of the North Slope. From August into September, we fish for migratory sheefish and Dolly Varden.
From August through September, we fish and camp our way down two very different Brooks Range rivers, chasing summer into fall. Groups are limited to a maximum of four guests. On the Kobuk, we fish for sheefish, Arctic grayling, and northern pike. On the Ivishak, sea-run Dolly Varden are the primary target, with Arctic grayling found throughout the river.
Early summer trips are built around endless daylight and winter’s rapid retreat. With up to six guests, we’ll spend nine days moving slowly through the Brooks Range by raft, with time to hike side valleys and tundra ridges, watch for wildlife, and explore beyond the river. The Marsh Fork gives us a way into the landscape, rather than a reason to hurry through it.

Keeping Remote Waters small lets me stay closely involved with each group, from the first conversation through the final takeout. On our fishing trips, guides handle the boats, set up tents, and prepare meals, leaving you time to fish, explore, and settle into life outside.
